Carmen lives in Almanjáyar, a Gypsy neighbourhood located on the outskirts of the city of Granada in Spain. Her days are spent in isolation and devoted to the care of her father, a conservative man and her mother, a virtually absent woman. Defying the rules of her community and her family, Carmen keeps secret an intense relationship with Sheila, a love that allows her to survive the world around her and shows her the possibility of a new life.
