Synopsis:
This PBS Special-of-the-Week documented America's vanishing, indigenous craftsmen and changing work patterns as mass production supplanted the traditional skills of individual workers. The meaning of work in human happiness is explored through the lives of a shovel carver, blacksmith, tinsmith, lacrosse stick maker, weaver, and basket maker in this sole film portrait of each craftsmen. In this "classroom" version, we see the shovel carver, basket maker and tinsmith.
