Director: Betsy Cox | Producer: Betsy Cox
Focus Years: 2013 | Country: United States
Synopsis:
Dream tells the story of a few former students from Anacostia, an impoverished neighborhood in southeast Washington, D.C., who were part of the I Have a Dream Program at the height of the drug wars (1988-1994). Now 37 years old, they candidly share the overwhelming challenges each faced then—including poverty, abuse and addiction; the impact of the program on their lives; and who they are today. It is an intimate first-person account of growing up in communities in crises, the resiliency of the human spirit and the potential impact of educational programs.
