Synopsis:
One of India's greatest artists, Bismillah Khan transformed the shehnai from a street instrument to one that graces concerts around the world. He lived in Benaras, on the banks of the holy river Ganges. A devout Muslim, he had a great respect for the spiritual aura of the ancient city of Benaras. He was greatly admired and respected for his simple lifestyle as well as his extraordinary creative genius. He was awarded India's highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna.
