Director: Orlando von Einsiedel | Producer: Orlando von Einsiedel
Focus Years: 2011 | Country: United Kingdom
Synopsis:
Partially blinded by an unknown illness at 3 and sent out to work on the tough streets of Kano in Nigeria at 9, Aisha Sani Abdullahi's life prospects were not great. However, a chance meeting with a woman who could knit sent Aisha's life in a completely different direction. Aisha's Song is an energetic and beautifully shot 16mm documentary that uses the sounds surrounding Aisha in order to create a vibrant, exciting and organic soundscape. Original, elegant and musically lush, the film is an uplifting story of female emancipation from a part of the world where women are all too often overlooked.
