Synopsis:
This documentary by filmmaker Ava Karvonen, follows her father as he walks the land through the four seasons reflecting on his life, his career as a wildlife filmmaker and his philosophies on the environment.
Albert and his wife, Pirkko, retired to their lakeside cottage in the northern boreal forest and every day Albert walks the land. He can tell anyone who shares the path with him all about the creatures and plants that inhabit it – and he knows exactly what the creatures are up to based on the sign they leave behind. When it snows and he can no longer walk, he puts on his cross-country skis. As the camera follows him on his daily excursions, he shares his expertise and experiences on how to film nature and his philosophies on life and the environment. This is also a story about aging, preparing for death and the legacy one leaves behind. All animals have a natural life cycle and as Albert recognizes the end of his life is getting closer, he shares his thoughts of life, living and death.
