All his life, Durga Pokhrel from Kathmandu has dreamed of coming to England, having read about it since he was a child. From afar, he has grown to love a country that he believes is home to the “value of human beings”, a nation whose people are “courteous, amiable and kind-hearted”. But within days of arriving in London, Durga gets a job as a traffic warden in Westminster and is dispatched on to the capital’s streets to issue parking tickets to its hostile drivers. With exclusive access behind the scenes of Westminster’s draconian parking operation, this is a moving and surprising film that offers an immigrant’s view of the changing face of England and the English.
