Synopsis:
Shelley Wong, associate professor in the Department of English and Asian American Studies, gave one of the three "Cornell Contexts" lectures August 25 based on Julie Otsuka's novel "When the Emperor Was Divine," the 2013 New Student Reading Project book. The book tells the story of a Japanese-American family's experiences in an internment camp during World War II.
