Synopsis:
The third largest slum in Nairobi, Kenya is home to an impoverished, orphaned, twelve-year old girl named Lorna. She dreams about her future, but spends many of her waking hours just worrying about survival as she lives in a place where one out of four girls is raped every year. “Lioness” is a story of hope and survival that follows Lorna and three of her friends as they navigate life in their risky world and learn to utilize simple self-defense techniques as a sensible solution to staying safe. This film personalizes the global crisis of gender violence and presents self-defense as a viable means to rape prevention.
