Mamá Chocó tells the story of Paulina, an Afro-Colombian woman who with her family was displaced from her native land in Chocó because of the Colombian internal conflict. In this documentary, we see how Paulina struggles, in a far and foreign land, to preserve a bond with her culture and at the same time tries to find a way of having a new home. She always evokes her origins through the music and the acting.
