THE ROAD OF FRATERNITY AND UNITY| 1hr : 44mins
Director: Maja Weiss | Producer: Ida Weiss
Focus Years: 1999 | Country: Slovenia
Synopsis:
The Road of Fraternity and Unity is a personal film, a diary, shot on digital video camera in 1998 in former Yugoslavia (now Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Macedonia).
It’s about a voyage from Vardar to Triglav, from Äerdap to Adriatic, alluding to the title of one of the once most popular songs in former Yugoslavia.
Part of the trip, the interviews, were shot along the road leading from Ljubljana to Zagreb, Belgrade and Skopje, marked B51, once called the Road of Fraternity and Unity, which eventually turned into the road of war and hell. The citizens of Yugoslavia had built this road out of existential and ideological hunger after the Second World War.
