Synopsis:
'THE ART OF SURVIVAL' could be described as a poetic Film Essay, with references to European art cinema. With it's raw, 'street' feel, the movie will appeal to people of all nationalities; many will experience a sense of identification with the protagonists.
The film is a melange of 'portrait' and street footage, animation, rostrum, and archive material. The film observes Yugoslav refugees in London. It is about their internal world - their psychology, and about the common experience of displacement. Through live image, animation, archive, voice over, music, text and sound, the film reflects on past events; their coming to terms with what they have experienced in exile. The narration considers their future; with thoughts on life in London, and makes observations on Yugoslav, British and European culture.
