Focus Years: 2013 | Country: China
Synopsis:
The film tells the story of four families, who, in the process of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project, were forced to leave the Danjiang River Reservoir area. Before the removal, villagers on the island lived a leisurely and rich fishing life. However, since 2010, when the government initiated the project, fishermen have had to move to a plains which is 200 km away. People felt helpless, anxious and angry. Under the supervision of the government, they had to leave their homeland where they had lived for a long, long time, leaving their ancestors’ tombs behind.
The eviction turned well-off fishermen into poor farmers. How will they adapt to their new lives and start their new careers? What difficulties and hardships will they face?
Through the documentary, the director tries to show people’s deep attachment to their homeland.
