Focus Years: 2007 | Country: United States
Synopsis:
Did you know that if you are HIV-negative, now there is a pill you can take on a daily basis that can prevent infection? Unfortunately many of those most at risk for HIV and AIDS in the US have not been tested and don't know their status and continue to have unprotected sex.
Currently, AIDS rates are rising in gay and bisexual men and transgender women of color more than any other group in the US. The AIDS Chronicles - Here to Represent is about the social and cultural impact of HIV and AIDS on the urban African-American population of Metro Atlanta and the people within the community who have been leading the efforts in education, outreach and testing for the last 15 years.
The question of why the virus continues to have such a strong hold on the African-American community is explored through the thoughts and actions of those affected and infected with the disease, along with the comments of experts who dispel the myths and reveal the facts about the spread of HIV/AIDS.
