Director: James Sandy | Producer: James Sandy
Focus Years: 2014 | Country: Netherlands
Synopsis:
Musicians without Borders (MwB), established in 1999, is a global network organization using the power of music for healing and reconciliation for those affected by war and conflict. Stone Flowers was created as a response to the shocking practice of music being used as a tool of torture in Guantanemo Bay and other military institutions. In partnership with Freedom from Torture, we support refugee/asylum seeker torture survivors living in the UK who have been subjected to unbearable extremes of physical and psychological pain, sustaining serious injuries. The psychological impact of torture is long-lasting – music helps reduce this trauma and gives survivors a way of speaking out against human rights abuses.
