Focus Years: 2006 | Country: Romania
Synopsis:
In April 2005, there was a media scandal about a number of women fired from a small company in France, who had been offered relocation in Romania for a salary equivalent to 110 Euros—a tenth of the minimum wage in France at the time.
This documentary overturns an absurd proposal and transforms it into a real exchange between people. One year later, one of the French former employees of the company decides to come and see in Romania what this proposal was about. Who are those people working over there for a tenth of her salary? Can one really live for a month on that?
In the context of European enlargement, with Romania becoming a new member in January 2007, LOW COST talks about issues that concern all of us.
