Director: Romed Wyder | Producer: Romed Wyder
Focus Years: 1995 | Country: Switzerland
Synopsis:
In 1994, the state of Geneva, Switzerland, counted among its population 1900 squatters occupying 75 houses. Every 200th inhabitant is thus a squatter.
In the 90s, the squat scene become an integrated part of town life. Its cultural activities are discussed in the newspapers. Only rarely does anyone mention the fact that all this is technically illegal and would not be possible elsewhere.
The film presents the activities of the squatters in the original context of the movement: the lack of affordable housing and the desire for alternative ways of living.
This documentary film is neither a reportage nor a portrait, but a description of squatters' lives through interviews with three squatters and observational footage of their daily lives.
