Shot over several months in Aleppo, North Syria, the film follows the itineraries of a couple of fighters, Mudar and Abdel Kader, who are hailed from the rural parts of Aleppo. At the outbreak of the protests, Mudar mobilized people peacefully through the patriotic songs he used to sing in the demonstration. As violence and brutal atrocities became the regime’s only way to suppress the protests, Mudar became involved with the military resistance. He met Abdel Kader who was an ordinary tradesman. Together, they formed a military group formed of determined young men. They launched the Battle for Aleppo and contributed to the liberation of big parts of the city from the regime’s forces and affiliated thugs. “HANGING DATES UNDER ALEPPO'S CITADEL” retraces Mudar’s and Abdel Kader’s itinerary from their rural environment to their present stand in the heart of the war torn Aleppo city, where death became the other face of life.
