Synopsis:
A Thin Line is a short documentary film on the social drama of homelessness.
We see the streets of Valencia (Spain) with the spotlight on people who usually pass unnoticed. They are people who, for various reasons, have found themselves engulfed in a situation of helplessness and solitude. Very often only a thin line separates us from marginalisation and social exclusion. We think we are fairly secure, but through various unexpected turns of events we can easily find ourselves without support or resources. In this respect, the economic crisis has been a hard master. Behind the images and the testimony lies a profound human dimension and the need to preserve human dignity.
The reasons for choosing this focus is because this thin line represents the boundary of Human Rights. Once you cross this line, is very difficult to preserve human dignity. I believe that Human Rights draw the lines we must respect and they allow us to preserve human dignity.
The music, a key element of the work, was provided by the Valencian composer Miguel Gómez OrtÃn. The featured voices were found with the help of Cáritas Valencia (Mambré Programme) and the Casa Valenciana de la Caridad (the Valencian House of Charity).
