Director: Bharti Kumari | Producer: Video Volunteers
Focus Years: 2013 | Country: India
Synopsis:
Pooja, a young student of the Government Middle school in Paduguda village, Jharkhand, is in a predicament. The lack of a proper toilet in her school often means that she has to make a dash to the fields near by or worse, miss school. This is a problem that thousands of female students in India face. Clean toilets are often what stand between girls and their education. Having to pee in the fields is embarrassing, unpleasant and really not safe. The real problem begins when they start menstruating. That is usually the point when parents ask their girls to stop attending schools.
