Fred Armitage, a paramilitary professional, is in Afghanistan in order to protect diplomats. In the midst of his demanding job and life in a war zone, he decides to rescue the stray dogs that face death from starvation, government-sanctioned poisoning and stoning as a means of entertainment for some of the locals. He raises funds and awareness and begins to help the dogs heal and send them to new adoptive families in Canada.
