DUST TO DUST| 1hr : 32mins
Director: Michael Brown | Producer: Michael Brown
Focus Years: 2002 | Country: United States
Synopsis:
In the small northwest Montana town of Libby, (population 2,700), more than 200 people have died from a silent, insidious killer. Hundreds more have been diagnosed with potentially fatal lung abnormalities liked to asbestos dust from a former mine operation on the mountain above the town.
Hard evidence indicates that the mine operator, W.R. Grace, was aware that the dust produced by the mine contained tremolite, the deadliest form of asbestos, but denied there was any danger in the dust.
One EPA official called it potentially the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history.
Dust to Dust allows those affected most by the danger to tell their own story.
