Director: Laurence Dworkin | Producer: George Davis
Focus Years: 2014 | Country: South Africa
Synopsis:
A city without Nature is at risk of losing its soul. For Cape Town the stakes are high.
Bongani Mnisi is a nature conservation manager with the City. Working with several high schools, he is establishing a set of “stepping stone†gardens across the Cape Flats to help birds traverse the urban environment. By planting nectar rich species, they hope to provide nutrition for the long-billed sunbirds and sugarbirds as they move between Table Mountain National Park and conservation areas of the urban lowlands, pollinating up to 300 fynbos species as they go.
