                    Synopsis:
Nature along the IJ river: If you really want to know what something is, look for what you don’t expect.
With this idea, Peter Delpeut went along the banks of the IJ in search of nature. He proceded by foot with his regular cameraman Stef Tijdink following the piers of Amsterdam's IJ canal and surroundings. He discovered that even in the rusty remains of shipwrecks nature takes its revenge. In a neglected moment, grass, wild flowers or even an adventurous bush grabs the opportunity.
But what At Water's Edge also shows is that the inhabitants and visitors of the IJ borders are satisfied with even the smallest pieces of green.
This film is above all a sketch of how people experience nature at this time in the Netherlands.
To paraphrase the poet J.C. Bloem: “Show us Dutch a piece of green the size of a newspaper and we are uncritically happyâ€.
