The sacred groves have been a part of rich tradition of Indian societies. They are known as Devrai or Dev-Rahati which means the abode of the gods... The indigenous tribal communities have been protecting them with their taboos and religious beliefs. Beyond the socio-religious, the film explores the political and economic significance of 'Devrai’ as a tool to assert ownership and customary rights over forests annexed by the state since colonial times.
