"The ‘it’ in “Love It more than I Can Say†refers to the toxic material featured in this film.I wanted to document the story of the treatment of toxic waste illegally dumped on one of Taiwan Sugar Corporation’s property. But I was denied permission to film on site. And no one dared testify on camera. One wonders, just how much scandal is hidden behind such a critical environmental crisis. Like a fly, I stick to these people. The waste management contractors had an unprecedented task on their hands. “They felt a great prideâ€. Each day the workers risked their life. Completely unaware of the dangers of these toxic substances. They were sorry to see the end of it. How ironic that Taiwan Sugar called it “nothing proud to talk aboutâ€. As for me, all I can say is “Love it more than I can sayâ€.
This is a documentary film about a sociological and environmental issue. After years of filming labor disputes and other social events, I turn my camera towards the problem of toxic waste disposal and treatment in Taiwan. Following the story on a full time basis, I come in close contact with hazardous material to uncover the truth behind what is probably the most serious incident of environmental pollution in Taiwan, and the worst case of toxic waste pollution in the world, caused by the illegal disposal of hazardous industrial waste. Despite the many obstacles preventing my story being told completely, I succeeded in breaking through some of them to get pictures of the frightening truth regarding toxic waste management."
