FAREWELL CEREMONY | 11mins
Director: Maggie Padlewska | Producer: Maggie Padlewska
Focus Years: 2013 | Country: Canada
Synopsis:
Canada takes much pride in its beauty, stunning landscapes, and wilderness. But what's being portrayed on postcards doesn't always reflect reality. “The Farewell Ceremony” is the story of a community, one of Canada's First Nations, people who sought desperately to have their voices heard with respect to the treatment of their land. This story, that of the Nak'azdli community, is but one example of what happens here – frequently – when natural resources are found worthy of 'corporate' extraction.
