The 9/11 incident triggered society's fear of Islam because of some Western anti-Islamic groups, politicians and media. The media caused Islamophobia to spread and increase worldwide. When Islam is in the picture, tolerance, integration and freedom of speech are perceived differently. This was also seen in Germany. With the rise of the Pegida group, this incident affected many Turkish and Muslim individuals living in Germany.
