Dance for Parkinson's Disease is an initiative by Hrishikesh Centre of Contemporary Dance started in 2008 in association with the Sancheti Institute for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. The program started with 3 patients from the Parkinson's Mitra Mandal and now being conducted in Pune, Mumbai and Delhi.
Dance for Parkinson's Disease aims at creating a rehabilitation program within the education of contemporary dance. The class that is conducted thrice a week starts with Basic Exercises and then followed by Kathak Bol, Mudra and Dance Choreography. The module combines voice and movements together helping the participants once again gain control on their lost movement and speech.
The film Dance for Parkinson's Disease by Tapan Pandit explores in depth the initiative of Hrishikesh Centre and the change in lifestyle the program brings in for the participants.
