Synopsis:
"The King and the crook" is a film about the gangster John Andersen, known as “The Cheese”, who became friends with Haakon VII, the King of Norway, during World War II. Johannes Andersen was, in the 1920s and 30s, the most notorious criminal in Norway, but through extraordinary historical and personal coincidences during WWII, he ended up as a personal friend of Haakon VII, the King of Norway. The documentary raises the question: How could a notorious criminal like “The Cheese” get away with murder? How could he end up being protected by the King and parliament after the war, and even get a timber factory as a gift from the King of Norway, after killing two defenseless people in peacetime?"
