Synopsis:
Agricultural communities are widely recognized as a high risk group for suicide. Among these, small farmers in India are in distress. Suicides amongst farmers in India have been widely attributed to agrarian crises. A number of macro-social determinants to suicide, including growing financial indebtedness. With this background, the overall goal of this program is to empower the widows and their children so that they have the inner strength and skills to face life with hope and to come out of abject poverty and also, development of sustainable and diversified livelihoods for households to reduce agrarian distress.
