Synopsis:
A Double Life is a moving portrait of a wealthy man whose life is dedicated to human rights and who is still fighting his own class. An elderly man tries to stop the demolition of a Traveller’s caravan. He is arrested. Once home, he plays golf in the garden of his villa. What drives Tom de Booij? Why does this highborn man side with the underdog? We follow Tom as he champions the cause of the Traveller community in their fight against a policy of extinction of the Dutch state. We learn of his radicalisation in the 1960's, but only once a trauma from the Second World War is revealed does this man's sense of morality become clear. A Double Life is the narrative of a man trying to escape his past.
