Synopsis:
The documentary was created to raise awareness about the environmental destruction, health, social, economic, and legal consequences caused by the mining industry and to inspire activism and social transformation in the region. Local and international laws and regulations are ignored by the investors and rarely (if at all) enforced by the local government. Companies are allowed to extract the natural resources without paying hefty fines for the damages caused by the mining activities. Even though the government has established mining as a key priority for economic growth, only a few percent of the profits from the industry enters the GDP.
