Synopsis:
In Kerala, Southern India, social life includes numerous religious ceremonies. One of these rituals is the Tirayattam, the “Dance of Splendor”. At this occasion, gods and ancestors show themselves on earth incarnated by dancers whose costumes, make-ups and attributes evoke their power. Supported by the rhythms of the drums, their movements form the core event of this great ceremony that includes many other events like processions, offerings, bloody sacrifices and possession seances.
