Director: Alessandro De Toni, Laura Viezzoli, Lorenzo Cioffi & Tommaso | Producer: Alice in the City Collective
Focus Years: 2009 | Country: China
Synopsis:
The Journalists’ Village, inaugurated by the King himself, since the very beginning was an amazing British style district, an elegant and quiet “garden-townâ€, very different from the neighboring metropolis. While industrial development runs at a frenzied pace along the the northern railway, the village remains the same and it still lives in a fantastic isolation, in a surreal atmosphere engendering dreams. Its location is Milano, Italy, Villaggio dei Giornalisti. "Alice in the City" is a project of psychogeographic observation, which tell us the contrast between different worlds of significance and show us the physical oxymorons made by time and development. Each episode describes a district, a corner of the city, a discovery which goes beyond the narrow visual field of everyday itinerary. It’s all about sensing places, shapes, lines, people as if it’s the first time, like lettrist psychogeography used to do in search of the emotional effects of the environment.
