Synopsis:
Every six minute a woman dies during childbirth. Using animation, documentary and the filmmaker's voice, "More Than Blood" addresses the main cause leading to this tragic reality in low-income countries and what an extraordinary man is doing to reduce maternal mortality throughout the world.
Rani Khanna is a documentary filmmaker, lecturer and a birth doula.
She is half - French, half - Indian, based in London, UK.
In 2021, she was appointed the position of Creative Fellow in Filmmaking at the University of Birmingham (UK), to produce a film addressing the work being done on Postpartum Haemorrhage in Africa and Sri Lanka, led by professor Arri Coomarasamy of Gynaecology & Reproductive Medicine and the Joint Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Global Women’s Health, at the University of Birmingham.
The film is available in English, French and Spanish
It has won Best runner-up Documentary at the International Film Festival The Hague, Impact DOCS award, Best Shorts Competition and was selected for: Women Directors Film Carnival, New Delhi India, Pune Shorts International Film Festival , International Women's Film Festival Denmark, International World Films Awards and more
