On September 10th, 2003, during the fifth ministerial of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Cancun, Lee Kyung Hae stabbed himself in the chest with a knife. His hope was to focus the world’s attention on the hidden misery of what the WTO’s decisions really mean to millions of small farmers. Through interviews with people who have met Lee during his long years of fight - trade-unionists, militants and political leaders favorable to the opening market - we could trace the path of a man with strong values. We could also have a view of the context. Why Lee has decided to sacrifice himself?
