Arduino Ventimiglia di Monteforte is an Italian noble who has dedicated himself to a little known passion - the renaissance of traditional European falconry. This ancient form of hunting relies on the combined action of three animals, the falcon, the horse and the dog, all of which the falconer must be capable of controlling. The master falconer recounts the history, the principles and the philosophy of what had become in the Middle Ages a true art of hunting, codified by his illustrious ancestor the Emperor Frederic II in a famous treatise. This documentary, filmed in the magnificent surroundings of Tuscany showing the glory of its autumn colours, illustrates the patient work of the falconer with his animals right up to the final hunt. It reveals that this art also carries an ethic towards life which prones respect of nature and harmony - a state of mind that Arduino tries to incarnate and transmit to others today.
