Zpráva z Černé díry (Report from the Black Pit)| 57mins
Director: Michal Najbrt | Producer: QQ Studio Ostrava
Focus Years: 2004 | Country: Czech Republic
Subject Tags: czech republic, energy, europe, livelihood, resources
Quality Tags: Optimistic, Slow, Activating, Harmonizing
Synopsis:
No other city in the Czech Republic is so strange and specific. Nowhere else one can find such a strange mix of people, nationalities, groups, parties, fans and exotism. This happens only in Ostrava. The fate of the city reflected in its near and distant surroundings, made a bigger impact on this region than the capital Prague. On parliamentary elections, the lead candidates make their last debates here. Although the many unflattering nicknames as "Black Hole" or "Dirty Ostrava", perhaps the "steel heart of the republic”, would suit better the modern history of this city, the diversity of its population, and the black and white view of its beauty and challenges all those defamate her.
