In the little village of Jarota in Northern Ethiopia, every year, farmers have a hard time surviving in the harsh nature. Barren soil, climate change and starvation are just a part of life for most people. But one of the peasants has found a solution that might ensure a better life for him and his family: He has just opened the first shop in the area. "When the Rain Fails (Nar Regnen Svigter)" is a short documentary about extreme poverty in Ethiopia, where drought and climate change make people struggle for survival.
