AKHNOOR is a journey through a small hill town which is almost deserted, dilapidated and destroyed by years of insurgency, militancy, and terrorism. Riju returns to his native village after 17 years. He has been called there by his father's friend, Idris, who is now old, and who wishes to leave him the house that he and Riju's father had built together. As he wends his way through the deserted streets to the house, memories of his childhood turn from nostalgia to nightmares. When he finally enters the small courtyard to meet Idris uncle, a man wrapped in a shawl suddenly appears and embraces Riju and vanishes into darkness. It is Hassan, now a fugitive, an insurgent. At this very moment, Gunshots ring out. The lantern falls to the ground. All goes black. Spill of blood ends the film. The narrative of the film AKHNOOR unfolds in a sensory, impressionistic way, making the audience feel the terror with their senses.
