"Cool School Antarctica" follows 40 young people from around the world on an adventure of a lifetime to Antarctica, to see firsthand what is really happening to the planet. From Australia,India, Sri Lanka, China, the UK, Congo, Ireland, United States and Canada, this groups embarks on scientific journey to participate in the world’s first Environmental Youth Summit in Antarctica. "Cool School Antarctica" is led by famous polar explorer and environmentalist Prof. Robert Swan OBE who takes these 40 young people into the breath-takingly harsh elements of the Antarctic to learn the real lessons of global warming and the importance of conservation. Swan’s lifelong ambition to build a classroom in Antarctica powered by renewable energy is the last stop on the expedition. They are encouraged to tackle the issues of climate change and renewable energies from a place where the temperature can drop to as low as -80 degrees Celsius. This direct education ultimately gives them the power to become leaders in promoting, inspiring and educating their generation to make changes in the way they live. Over the two and half weeks spent in the pristine Antarctic wilderness, the young people camped out on the ice in -10 degrees Celsius temperatures, hiked up glaciers, zoomed around on Zodiacs to view the extent of the collapse of the Larson B ice shelf, sat amongst the cutest penguin colonies, were chased by a leopard seal for an entire morning, and witnessed a rare orca kill where they were in danger of being tipped out into the freezing waters!
