Using eye witness accounts and period reconstructions this film, remarkably relevant today, inspires us to fight to protect planet earth. This film tells the incredible story of the reforestation of a mountain in the south of France, made bare by man and swept by storms. At the end of the 19th century, overgrazing by sheep and industrial needs brought the forests on Mont Aigoual virtually to extinction and as a result flash foods frequently devastated the Cevennes valleys. A forester, Georges Fabre, together with a botanist, Charles Flahault, devoted their lives to the reforestation of this mountain. They had to face many challenges; climatic, scientific and most of all man-made. Thanks to their persistent efforts, however, they succeeded in mobilizing the local population and government. Over a 35 year period, 68 million trees were planted!
