Focus Years: 2009 | Country: Italy
Synopsis:
What happens to migrants requesting political asylum between their arrival in Lampedusa and the granting of refugee status? Are we really ready to welcome these persons into our country? And how did we, Italians, forget our not so remote migrant past? The microcosm of a tiny Calabrese village, the place of one of the bigger European transit camps, shows what is happening in the macrocosm of Italy: fear of the difference and mistrust and doubt of how and whether we should greet all these desperate people reaching our coasts.
