Synopsis:
With 17 murders a day, Guatemala City is one of the most dangerous places on earth. The ending of a 30-year civil war in 1996 promised a new start, but since then, reporter Zeinab Badawi finds evidence the narco-gangs, some of which include deported criminals from the U.S., are holding the reins, threatening to make Guatemala a ‘failed state’. On the surface, the capital is well run, but every morning the inhabitants wake up to gory headlines in their papers of the latest gang slayings.
