Director: Andrea Pizzini | Producer: Patrick Kofler
Focus Years: 2003 | Country: Italy
Synopsis:
A journey into Latin America's poorest country on the Caravan of Peace and to the origin of the Bolivian riots between the Cocaleros of Chapare and the protagonists of the so-called a water wars of Cochabamba, "In Defense of Pachamama" is a film just as current today as it was when it was made. "Pachamama" focuses on the democracy of the resources: earth and water as common assets worth defending. In Bolivia, there was the first water war in the world. Today in Europe, water is constantly being put under privatization. From Latin America's experience, we can still learn a lot!
