"Mutismo" is an exercise in direct cinema, a documentary of observation. It is based upon a theoretical exposition, almost in the manner of a visual essay. "Mutismo" observes the relationship between Man and Nature: Man as he who names things, and Nature (and the animal in her) as the one who receives the name. The observation focuses on this act of receiving, and it does so by recording wild boar hunting scenes in the autumnal forests of La Garrotxa, in the surroundings of Girona, Spain.
