The GoodPlanet Foundation proudly presents the Yann Arthus-Bertrand’s official film celebrating the International Year of Forests. Following the success of his film “Home”, the renowned photographer and founder of GoodPlanet was invited to realize this short film on forests for by the United Nations official declaration of 2011 as the International Year of Forests. Forests cover almost a third of the Earth’s surface. They are home to over half of all terrestrial species and partially - in some manner – supply the income of one in four people globally. Forests provide resources for the food we eat, the air we breathe and the medicines we consume. Forests are also a key element in the fight against climate change. And yet, we are threatening these ecosystems formed hundreds of millions of years ago before the first humanoids appeared on Earth. However, throughout the world, men and women are fighting for them. This International Year of Forests is an opportunity to discover, rediscover, celebrate, cherish, and protect these essential ecosystems. The “Of Forests and Men” film is now available to the public, at no charge and free of copyrights to with the aim of helping promote the conservation of our forests.
