Environmental protection agency controls begun in the 2004 in Salento (South of Puglia, Italy). Soon, they revealed an unsuspected environmental disaster: polluted air, water and soil contributing to the rise in poisoning and cancer rates among the local population.
What was going on? Who is responsible for this? The Ilva plant - steelworks of Taranto, the Federico Secondo - Cerano’s power station of Brindisi, the Copersalento waste - to energy plant of Maglie and the Brugesi landfill, closed in the 2009, of Ugento. People can be silent no more: they arise, they get together into groups, form associations and fight to preserve the beloved place were they were born. The battle lasts for two years, and in the way are farmers, workers, doctors, oncologists, fighters.
