Synopsis:
After the death of his father, Djemba’s mother found it impossible to care for her eleven children, and so it was decided they would have to begin to look after themselves. So Djemba arrived in Kibera, sub-Saharan Africa’s largest shanty town as a vulnerable child. In this short film, Djemba gives us a brief insight into his life and his community. Although there is little material wealth in Djemba’s life, there is a social and communal wealth that so many outside these communities seem to ignore. This is the true wealth of the majority of world society and one that has been lost in so-called developed nations. “It is not the people who are bad, it is our environment”.
